Maya Tulum Yoga retreat. Magical times some moons ago. I miss those yoga pants, snap!
This is @shulinyoga. She’s a bad ass warrior goddess and she leads the hardest fucking class I’ve ever taken. She is grace in action, embodying my favorite yoga adage: one must be as strong as the trunk of a tree, and as flexible as a blade of grass, and further, one must know when to be which. You should go fall on your face in a puddle of sweat in this class! 6:00pm. Advanced Bikram. It should happen to you. 🎆 #kingstonny #padmasana #mayurasana #womenofyoga
Chef Devon’s #scallop #ceviche, #huskedcherries #herbs, #flowers, #tomato jus, scant #oliveoil. It was so pretty it was hard to dismantle. Well, not that hard. #foodiesofinstagram #foodiechats
#tbt 2007. #ZagrebCroatia #AshtangaYoga workshop. #navayoga This is probably my favorite print media for one of my events that was ever made... designed by Danijela Nadj! Just got it framed :-)

Offerings on this day. Doing Yoga practice like every day. September 11, 2001 was also a Tuesday. I was in New York City, having just returned from a five month trip to India. I told my mom the day before as i sat on her terrace in the middle of Manhattan, “something is going to give.” My nervous system was absorbing the vibrations of all the buildings, cars, sirens, people, sheer wattage of electromagnetic power being pumped out from this epicenter. My cat, Frankie, woke me up on the morning of September 11 by knocking a full glass of water over from my nightstand, shattering it. I got up, and was on the subway from Park Slope to UES as the first plane hit. I remember the train stopped in the tunnel for a while. When I got out, nothing seemed too amiss, but upon arriving at my aunt’s house, all were glued to the TV watching the 1st tower smouldering. My aunt said, I don’t know if we’re going to do Yoga today, there’s been a terrible accident. I said, “Annie, this is no accident.” Not ten seconds later we watched live as the second plane hit. The day was interminable. I checked on my grandmother at her apartment, she was very confused. I watched from her 3rd floor window as men in suits walked up Madison Avenue covered in ash. My cousin Sophie and I walked through Central Park at dusk, beginning our long winding trip back to Brooklyn. K Pattabhi Jois was visiting NYC, doing an Ashtanga Yoga teaching tour, he seemed confused, too. I wanted to get to the Jivamukti Yoga Center, where I was finding much of my inspiration and guidance at that time, but lower Manhattan was closed. When they reopened, the message was convoluted and leadership was not there. Seek within, was the message I took. The teachings I had been exposed to had taken root where sangha was elusive. Going within with regards to this event has taught me to let go of anxiety and fear, but has clarified as well that the truth about what happened is not being fully told. We still have not recovered from this tragedy as a nation. 🕉 Namah Śivaya, as we say in Sanskrit. There is nothing else to say. ✡️✝️💔
If my son is late to school today, this is why❤️. He asked me to make #pancakes, I said “if you help!” He whisked. How could I say no?
